Condé Nast Traveler China Presents “China New 100" Exhibition in GUM Moscow

[February 2018, Moscow, Russia] Condé Nast Traveler China and Moscow’s GUM Central Department Store, has recently opened the "China New 100" exhibition which includes 100 photosthat re-define the beauty of China. The exhibition will last nearly a month andis the perfect place to experience Chinese New Year while in Moscow. In 2017, Condé Nast Traveler China’s photographers traveled across China to capture 100 photos that depicts all aspects of China. Whether it was anewly completed modern landmark or anoverlooked traditional attraction, the "China New 100" is both arecord and an inspiration that enables spectators to experience the vast and profound land of China.
Alex Sun, editorial director of Condé Nast Traveler China said: "A media with a lofty sense of purpose can become a great media company and thus I have two missions while at Condé Nast Traveler China. In the process of making this collection, one is able to witness the power of China's design. More than half of the 100 selected photos are related to the new design of China. These works are not only in developed cities, but also in remote villages. No matter the contemporary minimalist style, repairing the old to look old again, or traditional Chinese re-creation, both domestic and foreign designers are pioneering the way of beauty in China. Creativity is blooming in the distant northwest and rural villages of China, such as The Western Architecture Museum which is affectionately called "Yang Yurt” by Kazakhherdsmen, and The Yinchuan Contemporary Art Museum which showcases the flowing geography texture.
Built in 1893, the largest shopping mall in Russia today, GUM Central Department Storehas a history that spans over 100 years. Facing the Kremlin, the classic European style architecture combined with colorful adjoining church helps create a stunning landscape on Red Square. To celebrate the Chinese New Year, in addition to emphasizing Chinese traditions, Gum hopes to combine the rich culture of Russia to create a unique experience for all visitors. Through this cooperation with Condé Nast Traveler China, visitors from all over the world will be able to witness how modern China is representing "Made in China". This exhibition will last for nearly amonth and the 100 photos collected in the October Special Issue of Condé Nast Traveler China are currently being displayed in the mosteye-catching atrium in the mall. Hundreds of Chinese and Russian media, the Chinese Cultural Center in Moscow, local celebrities and opinion leaders all attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition.
In the past two years, with the rise of “Communist Party Tours" and "Summer Get-Away Vacations”, Russia has become a hot-spot and one of the mostrapidly expanding overseas destinations for Chinese tourists. According to the Russian Sputnik News, within the first nine months of 2017, the number of visa-free arrivals to Russia from China reached 840,000, an increase of twenty-four percent over the previous year.
